well i gotta tell you, my first cb radio was a cobra 29 ltd that came from my girlfriends grandparents garage. it was collecting dust along with the magnet mount antenna. what kind of scanner do you have? do you have an outside antenna also? do you rent a house, own a house, or live in an apartment?

i have the rubber duck antenna that i made a mount for and soldier some old tv coax two.the scanner is and old radio shack pro-28.just alittle hand held one.doesn't pick up a hole lot off traffic.most of the time it the police and it's real weak.but after tax time i'll go and buy a radio.from some where don't know where though a cb shops around bedford or bloomington.

well you guys are talking on ham bands just wondering after doing research why are you guys using cb call.not those nosey fcc calls they say your sopposed to use.never under stood why they make you take a test to talk on radios.most bussinesses don't take tests to use their busseiness radio to talk on.just wondering don't really expect an answer.

well thats a very good question! the ham radio hobby is an exciting, interesting and rewarding hobby. hams are a valuable asset to any community and have been involved in numerous rescue and emergency actions all around the world. i highly recommend that anyone with an interest in radio become a licensed radio operator. the fcc does require a license to operate on any part of the ham bands. we that use the great and wonderfull slimydime cb radio website appreciate anything and everything that hams do for our community and hope that ham radio continues to grow and help secure our homeland well into the 21st century. business radio requires a license as well except for the murs band which is vhf cb radio and has its own set of laws similar to cb radio. im sorry sir, you surely must be in error that you hear any of the members here on 144.115. your scanner must be experiencing some sort of intermod. a common problem with scanners, intermod can be troublesome as well as down right frustraighting. some members of slimydime website do operate on the murs band following the legal requirements of the fcc. due to certain unexplainable propagation effects of the area, im sure its very possible your scanner is recieving our transmissions from 151.820, 151.880 or 151.940. as a member of the slimy dime website im sure i speak for all members when i say that the slimydime as a whole is commited to excellence in making people feel welcome as well as helping with any information members may need for any projects or purchases. thanks for your question and your keen monitoring of the airwaves and hope you to will consider making radio your hobbie for life!
